The Center for Public History is implementing a research project on concentration camps for Jews and Roma in Serbia during WWII – “Mapping the Holocaust: Places of Remembrance in Serbia”. A total of 9 sites have been mapped (Banjica, Topovske šupe, Sajmište, Novi Bečej, Zrenjanin, Šabac, Niš, Subotica and Bor), and all materials will be presented for the public through archival documents, contemporary photographs and related historical texts on the website that will be online in the coming period.
As part of the activity, a school exhibition on the Holocaust will be organized and will be hosted in 7 schools in Serbia.
The opening of the first exhibition is on March 2nd at the First Gymnasium in Belgrade, after which the exhibition moves to Novi Bečej, Trstenik, Bor, Lazarevac, Belgrade and Šabac.
An accompanying publication on the concentration camps has been prepared for the exhibition, which will be available for the duration of the exhibition.
The project is being implemented with the support of the US Embassy in Serbia.
